Miss Comish

KS1 Nativity - Monday 10th December  2pm and 6pm

Tuesday 11th December 9:30am

Please can KS1 children be back at school for 5:30pm on Monday 10th December to allow us enough time to get them changed into their costumes.

We are a class of happy and enthusiastic children taught by Miss Comish. We are also taught by Mrs Mcnee on a Wednesday afternoon. We have a natural curiousity and a readiness to learn.

In Year One we are Safe and sensible, Honest and kind, Always try our best, Respect each other and ourselves, Enjoy our learning. ( We SHARE).

Autumn Term Topic

On Our Doorstep

All of our learning is thematic and will be linked to our over arching topic. A newsletter containing a detailed topic web is attached below.

We love reading and we have a super Reading Corner with a mix of fiction and non-fiction books to read.  During reading, the children will have a discussion around their chosen book which may include: features on fiction and non-fiction books, characters’ actions and feelings, spotting spelling patterns/rhyme/repetition, the context for the book, similar situations we have experienced, links to other books read etc.

The children will bring home  2 new reading books on a Monday and a Thursday. We hope this will allow one night to read the book, a second night for your child to build their confidence and read the book with more fluency. Finally, a third night to discuss the text and answer comprehension questions.

There are copies below of the differentiated reading comprehension questions we encourage you to ask your child.

Homework will be sent out each Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday. Literacy/ Numeracy or Topic homework will alternate each week.

Year one are a great team, who celebrate eachothers achievements and encourage eachother when we are finding things tricky. f you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to communicate to me through your child’s planner, ring me in school or see me at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your support
