Reading and Phonics Schemes used in KS1

Reading Schemes

At Tattenhall Primary, we predominantly use Oxford Reading Tree (which has a variety of different subschemes to appeal and engage different intersts and meet the needs of different readers: Project x, All Stars, Tree Tops etc). We also use Pelican's and Sunshine Spirals in reception and year 1 to support the teaching of early reading.

Phonics Schemes

The staff follow the guidance in Letters and Sounds to form the backbone of their planning. Other schemes and resources enhance the teaching of phonics, for example Jolly Phonics (Nursery and Reception) to introduce sounds with associated actions. Games and online resources ensure that the pupils are constantly challenged and engaged in the phonics curriculum.
